    1. Definitely like betting the turn. $35 is just over 1/2 pot, reasonable size with 2 hearts out. Doubtful he’d call the river unless he catches up

    2. Seems like a bad runout. $15 into $23 on turn seems fine. No reason to get fancy pre flop

    3. I’d probably call the flop and see what happens, but can’t feel good there at all. Folding is on the tighter side, but live reads and such can sway you. There were basically just the other 2 Q and the 4 K that would help you on turn. So easy to just go into check call mode and lose to QJ J10 Q10 K9 89 and there isn’t much besides KQ that’s going to put money in that you beat

    4. Did you show her the bluff?

It depends on your reasons for playing poker. If it’s for the $ and the game is good, then you should fix that leak and just stick it out. I like to pay attention when I’m not in hands and try to predict what hands others have. Get up and take a walk once in a while. Strike up conversations with other players.

If you’re just playing for fun and you aren’t having fun, definitely leave!

I very much disagree with the previous post. Micro stakes require a different approach, but your opponents mistakes equal more $. Live competition is generally much lower. Consider the lowest live game stakes compared to the lowest online. I used to equate .10-.25NL online to 1-2NL live in terms of skill.

Focusing online can be a bit tougher too. Start by really paying attention to every decision, especially preflop.

Yes. Once I get down to 15BB, I’m going all in whenever I enter a pot. Remember that it takes a much stronger hand to call an all in rather than shoving due to fold equity. Also remember that your chips become more valuable the fewer you have.

Small buy-in tournaments will generally be filled with casual players so don’t be afraid to just enjoy yourself too!

If you’re going to buy in short, there’s no way around getting to showdown much more often. With that flop + stack, it’s going in. Suited/ drawing hands are way less valuable the shorter you’re playing. Small-mid pairs increase in value

I think a flop fold would have also been acceptable. Just because he isn’t focused on sizing doesn’t mean you should. On the turn, check is good. River sucks when you think it’s a great card and he shoves.

Where abouts are you located? Most nightly tournaments I see are fast-moving structures that become shove fests pretty early. You can still gain plenty of valuable experience playing in them though.
