Online Bankroll Challenge, Weeks 15 and 16

Wrote that blog last night, but for some reason, it didn’t publish (just in case it now double posts!?)

So, didn’t play much lately, tired, no much time… anyway

    Week 15 (July 5-11) 915 hands, -$12.76 (+$9.98 in bonus) = -$2.78
Played two sessions, hit a high hand jackpot with quad aces.

    Week 16 (July 12-18) 332 hands, +$5.54
Played a single session, went well

    Here’s an updated graph :
    OBC_week16

Looks like I’m in a break even streak. Better than a losing streak. I think I’m a little tired when I play, and maybe not as motivated as I was before. But that’s ok, I’m confident I’ll get back on track 🙂

    Total : 16 901 hands, +$85.64 (+$38.59 in bonus) = +$124.23

Online Bankroll Challenge : Week 17

YUK!!! worst week since the beginning of this challenge. Gotta stop playing 10NL (well according to my own rules, I could keep playing, but… i dunno, i’ll see next time I play)

Had a shitty session just now… Couldn’t make a hand, lost $27. At least $10 of that were all-ins on turn while ahead and got fucked in the ass on the river. Plus last hand, I open AQhh, guy 3bet 30% of his stack (3rd time I see him do that in the last orbit or so), I decide to get it in, he calls with AQdd, board came with 4 diamonds, of course… that’s when I shut down all my tables (lost about $9 on that last hand)…

So here we go for this week’s summary :
22 : 352 hands, -$0.19 (lost $2 on the very last hand with QQ vs J7o)
    24 : 307 hands, +$6.99
    25 : 363 hands, -$27.33… so pissed

    OBC_week17

    Week 17 : 1022 hands, -$20.53
    Total : 16 676 hands, +$72.33 (+$28.61 in bonus) = $100.94

    LIVE session #16, July 26th

YEAH! Been a while since my last live sesh!
Sunday morning, I checked my cellphone and had a text message from a poker pal saying he was setting a little home game in the afternoon.
I was happy to go play
Game was a 5 handed 0.25/0.25 (with regular straddles and double straddles, so was sometimes 0.25/0.25/0.50/1.00 (and even sometimes 2$ for a triple straddle).
Bought in for $50, played 5 hours and cashed out for 200

    2020 so far :
    16 cash sessions / 54 hours / down 896 (98 in tips)
    5 tournaments / 20 hours / down 341 (1 itm, 1 bubble)

Online Bankroll Challenge : Weeks 18 and 19

Didn’t play much, but I did well. Didn’t achieved my number of hands goal, but, my main objective is to grow a roll, and I’m pretty happy with my winnings. Plus, a good win in a fewer hands means a better winrate, haha 😉

    WEEK 18
    07/29 : 355 hands of 4NL, +$3.61
    08/01 : 110 hands of 4NL, +$6.41

    WEEK 19
    08/06 : 83 hands of 4NL and a bit of 10NL (maybe 20-25% of those hands were on 10NL), +$17.95

    Here’s my updated graph

    OBC_week19

    Week 18, 465 hands +10.02
    Week 19, 83 hands, +17.94
    Total : 17 224 hands, +100,29 (+28.61 in bonuses) = +$128.90

Online Bankroll Challenge, Weeks 20 and 21

    Week 20 :
    08/14 : I played 507 hands of a mix of 4NL and 10NL. -$0.82 after behing down $10 ’cause AA < KK in a 5bet all-in pre. So breaking even here feels like a win 🙂

08/15 : Played 544 hands of 4NL (’cause you know, following a losing sesh). Lost $6.83 in an hour and a half, behing up $3.50 after the first hour. That tilted me a little. The last half hour was pretty shitty, didnt’ make a single hand.

A guy opens in CO/BTN, I 3bet ATo from the blinds, probably a fold, but I thought it was the top of my folding range / bottom of my value. I thought he was opening a lot lately, so I opted for a 3bet. He flat, flop Jxx I decided to cbet with my backdoor equity-ish, and I got come Jx in my range (well so does he). Anyway, he calls. Pretty done with the hand at this point… unless… turn brings a turn A, I 2nd barrell, he calls… ok now i’m done… river A, ok, I shove for 75% pot (or so), he snaps with KQ, nh (JxxTA). Don’t remember the sizings, I think I bet small flop (whole range), then 50% turn… anyway

A little late, something a bit similar happened. There’s a limp, I raise AQ from the blinds, he calls. Board Q53x7, I bet bet shove, villain had 64o

And then lost set vs str8, you know, that kind of sesh :\

So in retrospect, that’s not too bad of a loss after all…

    Week 21 :
    08/14 : played 370 hands of 4NL, won $13.59
    08/15 : playd 293 hands of 4-10NL, won $11.49

    OBC_week21

    Week 20 : 1051 hands / -$7.65
    Week 21 : 663 hands / +$25.08
    TOTAL : 18,938 hands / +$117.72 / ($28.61 in bonuses) = +$146.33

Played a little less in the last month or so, after 21 weeks, I should have 21k hands… not far from that objective, maybe I’ll try to catch up in the next few weeks.

forgot to say, I played a bit of zoom 0.02/0.05 PLO on stars, on my phone, won about 12.50 in something like 15-20 minutes. I just didn’t include it in that challenge, maybe I could/should. But I kinda lost track of my roll on that site. Last time I took note of it, I had somewhere around the same as I do now… so, it means i lost a bit without writing it down, and won some back… so not sure how it evolved.

    Live session #17, September 6th

Went to play in a home game today. A small 0,25/0,25 with many straddles and rebuys that ends up playing pretty much like a 0,50/1,00 or maybe even a small 1/2.

Anyway, I was up 2 for 2 at this game, but my streak ended today. Lost $95, which is not that big of a loss considering people there can end up winning or losing 200-300.

Max buy-in (which everyone were buying for) was $50.
Lost my first one (well, my stack gradually went down to 25-30 went I hit Jxx with QJ as the preflop raiser. Turned Q for top 2, but that was a 3rd heart on board. Villain x/shove for what was about a potsized bet or so, I guess. I felt I might be beat, but his range is wide, I figured he might’ve been doing this with a pair+draw, board was something like x9JQ. He might have done it with something like T9 with a heart, maybe JT. I ended up calling, he showed me the made flush, we ran 3 rivers and board never paired, nh

2nd buy-in went pretty much the same, I grinded it for a good two hours, if not three between 15-25. Then I got around 20. Pot was good preflop, few raises and multiway, I’m there (homegame means looser) with J7, on a board (I think it was a straddled pot with a single raise, I doubt I’d be there in a 3bet pot, yeah I’d have folded). So, I got J7 on 589, giving me a double gutter. Check, I check, another check, guy in position bets, guy on my right calls, I shove for around a pot sized bet, I believe and got 2 calls, and I didn’t improve

3rd buy-in, well, I finished the session cashing out $55, so, noting much to say here.

I had fun, playing live poker felt good, game was fun. Pokerwise, that wasn’t a pretty good one. Kind of offsynch sesh, like I play hands that I gotta fold on flop, but would’ve hit turn. Fold top pair backdoor flushdraw vs a bet and a raise, but the better had little and the raiser had even smaller hand, so my naked top pair, ok kicker would’ve been a winner. Other than that, I was card dead for a long moment. And when I had hands, I just couldn’t connect. But I don’t mind, that was fun anyway.

    2020 :
    – 17 cash sessions / 59 hours / down 991 (including 98 in tips)
    – 5 tournaments / 20 hours / down 341 (1 ITM – 1 Bubble)

So here’s the graph up do date :

    OBC_week27

And as I reached the 20k hands milestone, I’ll give some numbers (fwiw)

    Sessions played : 88
    Sessions Won : 57
    Sessions Lost : 31
Percentage of winning sessions : 65%

The second 10k hands strech went a bit worse that the first one, been on a losing streak lately, and a bit of loss of motivation, but overall, I’m pretty satisfied with those numbers yet.

Let’s hope I can keep a similar pace for my next 10-20k hands

Wow, it’s been a while. I haven’t given up on that. I had a change in my life recently, a very nice one (nah, not a child), but I’m using my time for other stuff than poker, music, running, spending time with a real special person to me, and stuff. But still craving for poker, I’ll be back on that challenge enventually, since live poker doesn’t look to be reopening in a near future here in Montreal, sadly.

    2020 Live Poker Review

Played 1500 ish hands in 17 sessions.
Between January and mid March (plus two home games in July and September).

    Worst year I’ve ever had.
    5 win / 12 loss
    59 hours
Down 1k, not that bad after all, 5 buy-ins, who knows what would’ve happened had it been no pandemic. I could’ve lost even more, lol, or I could’ve have gotten myself out of the hole.

Oh and I paid $98 in tips

    Played 22/12/1
I should try to 3bet more, maybe, and maybe close a little bit of that gap between my vpip and pfr. But also, live and online are different, so maybe I shouldn’t have the same reflexes about those stats. And, I know the sample is tiny, so, it’s worth what it’s worth, but I like having a look at those
