Been card dead for a while, so having been dealt Q J I thought I had it and made a play.
BIG mistake. Should have been more cautious and patient.
How would you catch yourself before doing this?

Hand 1: I had the same thoughts as you. I felt that he was after me and was bluffy. I had blockers to top pair. I called and he had 3 2 off suite. I was a little miffed. He called my pf raise with that.
How could I have gone away from this? Maybe not risk too much on just top pair. Play it safe.
Hand 2: I’ve seen his pattern where he limps or maybe raised pf. Then overbet the pot 2x-3x. He did this 4-5 times already. I had a strong feeling that he didn’t have the goods.
I go all-in and he tanks for a little bit then calls. Turn is a K. River is a 3. I turn over the pocket 8’s and he gets a little surprised. He turns over K 5 for a pair on the turn.
I felt I had a good read…but variance happens? I wanted to exploit his play but I played instead. lol. He got me with garbage. I felt if I didn’t go all-in and maybe just bet 1/2-2/3 pot..he might have folded because going all-in he might have thought I was bluffing.
Hand 3: I agree with you on the flop…a flat call would have been fine. I was trying to make plays in the wrong spots.
I guess I was feeling impatient because I was card dead for a little while and wanted some action (too loose).
I go all-in and he tanks for about a minute then calls. River is an A.
He says that I might have him beat…then turns pocket A’s for trips.
I guess I almost bluffed him out by repping a straight. Maybe my stack was just too short to do it.01/01/2019 at 2:02 pm #3555Narajin007ParticipantFirst hand I folded. Found out that he had 3 4 for a straight. I knew my play was correct but still frustrated me. Pot was about $150.. Costing me about $47 to call…3 to 1 pot odds. Anything I could have done better…
Second hand, I would have folded…but I left my fold button at home…plus I was tilted….knew it was a long shot..i hit my 7 but lost to K Q for a higher straight.
I knew this guy was tight and him raising $100 should have given me alarms bells. But I didnt handle it well. Pot size was about $300… giving me 3 to 1 pot odds and implied odds where also there.

12/31/2018 at 7:16 am #3526Narajin007ParticipantWhat did you have as your hole cards?
12/24/2018 at 9:04 pm #3497Narajin007ParticipantSame here. I’m winning live…different feel…you can see tells…better atmosphere.
Online..somehow, I just cant get a fell of. I can get winning and triple my stack…and then lose it in a moment.
Maybe my big stack management isnt there yet.

Hands 1 and 3: I based this on opponents wild calls on previous hands. Looking back..maybe $80 or $90 would have been better.
Hand 2: I kind down bet to confuse him and make him call. This opponent is historically very tight my thoughts was he got a good price to call. I was pretty confident that I had the best hand by the turn.
Would it be better to bet $45 or something higher but then get a fold?
I might have gotten more value on the river by betting $80 instead of $60.
