Was running decent in my first ever live Tourney, but moved to a new table and couldn’t get a read on the players so I was down pretty bad. I was UTG and only had 3 BB left with ATo. Flop was T T Q (can’t remember the suits). I shove, all but one fold, I get called by the BB with 5x my stack. Turn and River was 9 and 8, respectively. The opponent had AJo. Won the hand with the straight and I got knocked out holding trips.

    Was shoving the right call?

With 3 BB you should have shoved preflop with A 10. Villian may still have called with AJ but it would have been correct given your hand.

When you flop trips with Ace kicker you should be willing to get it in, With most any stack. You are heavily favored against every hand except QQ.
